We are a “down east” band specializing in the music the Maritimes and Newfoundland. We also perform other Celtic music from Ireland, Scotland, and Australia.

Glenn Greene
Glenn was born in Hillview, Newfoundland and moved to his hometown of Deep Bight when he was three.  Music was one constant in his family.  Everybody played something; accordions, whistles, harps, drums, you name it.  Glenn knows all about kitchen parties, he was weaned on them.  Glenn got his first guitar at the age of 9 for a case of Black Horse and as he says, "the rest is history."  Like many Newfoundlanders, he moved to Ontario in 1972 looking for work.  He settled in the Kitchener area where he entertained locally.  Glenn moved back to Newfoundland in 1974 but discovered that the "jingle" he had in his pocket in Ontario was missing.  He returned to Ontario in 1975 to look for the "jingle."  He settled in Kingston where he found work at the Royal Military College.  Glenn continued to pursue his music and learned how to play the mandolin and accordion.  He co-founded the Newfoundland Kitchen Party and played "down east" music all over Ontario, Quebec, and Newfoundland.  Glenn says “Vocals, musicianship, and stage show; Shores of Newfoundland have it all.  It's great fun every time we perform."

Brock Laing
Born in Toronto, Brock was raised in a small town in Muskoka where he learned to appreciate the life in a small, close-knit community. Brock grew up surrounded by music and has been performing professionally since 1970. His father was an accomplished bandleader and played all over Eastern Ontario. Beginning with percussion, Brock moved to guitar so that he could accompany his voice. Brock's first professional experiences came in a country band called Muskoka, in which he played bass guitar and sang lead. While in university, Brock sang and entertained on the local circuit in the Peterborough area. After his move to Kingston, Brock joined a Top 40 band called Tugwood and played venues regularly in Eastern Ontario and Quebec. Since leaving the world of pop music, Brock has developed a deep love for Roots/Traditional music and has spent time in Eastern Canada attending festivals and getting to know the musicians that help to create and keep alive some of this wonderful music. Brock was an early member of the Newfoundland Kitchen Party and he's really happy with the musical mix available now with Shores.

Mark Coburn

Born and raised in Kingston, Mark is the newest Shore.  Mark was fortunate enough to grow up in a home that valued and enjoyed music.  Saved from piano lessons at an early age, Mark learned the guitar instead.  Mark has been singing and playing since he was a child.  Lately, Mark’s music has taken him to gospel and he sang regularly in an vocal quartet that entertained and witnessed to many church audiences.  Mark has a wonderful voice and a great sense and understanding of harmony.  He plays both the guitar and the banjo.  Mark enjoys all kinds of music but has really grown to love the Roots/Traditional music that is featured in the Shores of Newfoundland stage show.  Welcome Mark!
