8 Wing Trenton Pipes & Drums

 

Formed in December 1960 the 8 Wing Trenton Pipes and Drums is a Canadian Forces volunteer Pipe Band comprised of Regular Force Serving Members, Reserve Force Members, Retired Members, and Members of the Local Civilian Community. Its primary purpose is in the support 8 Wing Trenton and its lodger units in ceremonial and official functions. 

 The band has thrilled audiences at The Edinburgh Military Tattoo, The Copenhagen Tattoo, The Nova Scotia International Tattoo, Canada 125th celebrations, The Heartland International Tattoo, and The Longs Peak Scottish Festival in Estes Park, Colorado. They have competed both in Canada and Scotland, winning several top prizes including the North American Championships.  At the World Championships the band has finished 11th, 7th and 3rd, won the Dress and Deportment prize, and captured Best Drum Corps in 2003.  At home, the Trenton Band is a local fixture, performing at schools, senior's homes, and a host of civic and military events.
Situated by the picturesque Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario, 8 Wing Trenton is the air transport workhorse of Canada's Air Force, and home to some 2800 personnel and their families. Appearing by kind permission of Colonel M.J. Hood, 8 Wing Commander, The Pipe Band is currently under the direction of Pipe Major WO S.F. Alderman, and Master Warrant Officer Drum Instructor R.J.
